Dorothy E. Allen, age 86, of Gladwin, passed away on Feb. 17, 2009 at MidMichigan Gladwin Pines. She was born on Sept. 29, 1922 in Pontiac the daughter of the late Arthur and Zoe (Foltz) Caswell.
Dorothy married James Allen on June 7, 1941 in Napoleon, Ohio. She was a member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary; she was a member of the Gladwin Hospital Auxiliary and a PTA member. She loved animals especially dogs and butterflies. She also enjoyed crafts, bingo, finger fashions and her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; brother, Robert Caswell; sister, Helen Colon; and her dog, Tag.
She is survived by her children, Gary (Patricia) Allen of Gladwin, Rev. John (Alana) Allen of Centre, Alabama, Daniel Allen of Waterford, and Susanne (Vern) Siple of Rochester; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on March 6, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Sisson Funeral Home, Gladwin with Rev. John K. Allen officiating.
Visitation will be held on March 5, 2009 from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home and again March 6, 2009 from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In accordance with Dorothy's wishes cremation will follow the services.
