Obituary for W.A. Huffman--
Mr. William Albert Huffman passed away after a brief illness at a Watertown hospital, having reached the age of 74 years, 11 months and 4 days.
Mr. Huffman was born October 21,1877 in Jonesboro, Tennesse, and accompanied his parents as they moved to Nebraska where after three years they settled in Gilead.
On March 2,1900, Mr Huffman was united in holy matrimony to Valasta Komrs. Later in 1910 the couple moved to Clark, South Dakota, where they settled on a farm. In 1943 Mr. & Mrs. Huffman retired and made their residence in the City of Clark, SD.
Mr Huffman was an active member of both the Odd Fellow and Masonic Lodges, where he held many offices; he also was interested in civic affairs, having served twelve years as County Commissioner and various other offices in Lincoln Township.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters and one daughter. Mr Huffman is survived by his wife, and seven children; Charles of Harrisburg, SD. Albert of Whittier, California, Frank of Sioux City, Iowa, Bessie Berry of Rivera, CA, Frances Huff of Whittier, CA, Linda Kitterman and George Huffman of Clark, sixteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren along with a great host of friends.
W.A. Huffman was county commissioner during the 30's and held that office during the time that the existing courthouse was built in 1936.
