Eugene F. Allen
The graveside service for Eugene F. Allen, who was found dead at his Route 4 home on Wednesday, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fowler-Hunt cemetery. The Rev. C. John Westhof of the First Congregational Church will conduct the service.Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church. Contributions may be sent to Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.Eugene Franklin Allen was born at Emporia on May 19, 1914, the son of Charles Franklin and Elsie Irma Davis Allen. He and Betty Jane Rathke were married April 4, 1963 in Emporia, and she died June 5, 1968.Mr. Allen is survived by two brothers: James C. Allen and Vernon H. Allen, both of Grand Junction, Colo. Elva Rees of Shady Lawn Manor is a surviving aunt, and Evora Wheeler, Emporia is a surviving cousin. Other local survivors include five nephews and one niece.Mr. Allen was a retired farmer and employee of Lyon County. During the 1930s, he was a member of the CCC, Civilian Conservation Corps.
