Dorothy Baker, of Hayti, has passed away on October 20, 2012 at the Nursing Home in Hayti. Born on March 6, 1918, she was 94 years, 7 months and 14 days of age.
Dorothy was a wife and mother for 13 years. They moved to Owosso, Mich. where she worked in a 5 and 10 cent store as a clerk for 8 years, then they moved back to Hayti where she worked for Gauldings Dairy Serv. for 2 years. She then worked in the Nursery of the Hayti Hospital for over 22 years before retiring.
Mrs. Baker was a member of the Hayti First Baptist Church for over 80 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dock Arvil and Rosa Ella Davis Hedge, her husband, Andy Baker, her son, Larry Baker, a brother, Donald Hedge, sisters, Pearl Holt, Bessie Hedge, one infant sister and two infant brothers.
She leaves the following to cherish her memory, her daughter, Sandra Coker and her husband Jerry of Hayti, her grandchildren, Jeffrey Melton, Tonya (Robert) Franklin, Kevin (Anna) Baker, Brian (Lori) Baker, three step grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, her sister, Wanda Andrews and her husband J.D. of Hayti and a host of other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 23, at 11:00 a.m., in the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti with Bro. Doug Wahls and Dr. Tony Cherry officiating. Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Hayti. Pallbearers were Sean Hedge, Buddy Rawls, Philip Coker, Bob Tabor, Jordan Franklin and Kevin Baker. Honorary Pallbearers were Jeffrey Melton, Matt Coke, Jonathan Franklin.
John W. German Funeral Home of Hayti was in charge of the services.
