Rachel Ownby was born 1818 in Rutherford County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of John Ownby and Mary Jane Coone-Ownby. Rachel came to Sevier County with her parents in 1833.

Rachel Ownby married William Haggard "Buck" Ogle abt 1835 in Sevier County, Tennessee.
William Ogle was born 1804, Edgefield County, South Carolina, he was the son of Hercules "Hike" Ogle and Elizabeth Haggard-Ogle

Rachel and William Ogle had the following Children;

1. Noah W. Ogle
2. Mary Ogle
3. Jane Ogle
4. Martha Ogle
5. Harkless Ogle (Twin to Mariam)
6. Mariam Ogle
7. Ephraim Ogle
8. Lucinda Ogle
9. Rachel Ogle

Rachel Ownby-Ogle died after 1880, she is buried in
P. A. Proffitt Cemetery, Sevier County, Tennessee
