Edward L. Alonis, 81, of Tobyhanna, died Wednesday, September 30, 1998 in Mercy Hospital in Scranton. His widow is the former Esther Keiper.
Born in Pittston, he was the son of the late Joseph and Beatrice (Renekencuite) Alonis. Prior to his retirement in 1991, he was employed as a foreman with PennDOT. He was a member of the Elks Club and Eagles Club of Stroudsburg.
In addition to his wife, Esther, he is survived by one son, Joseph of Tobyhanna. He is also survived by one brother, William Alonis of Lake of Ozarks, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Alfred and Walter; and one sister, Anna.
Friends may call on Sunday, October 4 from 7 to 9 p.m. at James M. Hook & Co., Funeral Directors, 35 Sterling Road, Mount Pocono.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 5 at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church in Tobyhanna. Father Gollinge will officiate. Interment immediately following at Prospect Cemetery in East Stroudsburg.
