There was a Parish Family burying ground a mile east of the Kenyon Cemetery. There were others besides the Parish family in the Parish Burying Ground.
The name Kinyon was given to the cemetery because of the active interest in it of Mr. & Mrs. Orrin Kenyon. Most of the improvements were made at their suggestion and under their supervision.
About 1908 an additional acre was purchased through the leadership of T.S. Clark, from the James Bradley estate, a strip on the south and on the east of the old site. Lots were sold for $10.00 a lot. The money thus acquired was used to pay for this acre and to replace the old wooden fence with a new one.
At this time the cemetery was cleared up and put in good condition and Canton township assumed the expense of caring for it, but the supervision was left in the hands of the Cemetery Association. Many of those who were virtually interested are lying in the cemetery and others have moved away and it is sadly neglected except for a few lots cared for by their owners.
This information was supplied by Theresa S. Root, wife of John W. Copied from the FHL#0927475 film. It represents the condition of the cemetery when the DAR did a reading. This film also includes a notarized reading done on 28 February 1934.
Since this time Canton Township has assumed the reconciliation of this and other old Canton Cemeteries. They are now well maintained.
Information on this cemetery can be obtained from the Charter Township of Canton Offices
