There are an additional 39+ burials, all in unmarked graves, 30 of which only the
last name are known.
This burial ground was established by the family of Isaac W and amanda Hudson who settled the Hudson community, originally know as Hudson's Landing. First burial was that of their daughter
Melissa in 1878. This rugged pioneer family came to Florida from Alabama and lived in Madison and Chipco before moving to the Gulf Coast area seeking a healthier climate.

The Hudson of 125 years ago was a world removed from what it is today. Centuries old cypress trees, ancient oaks, stands of pine and cabbage palm, grouped themselves together to embrace hoards of wild life. Deer, panther, black bear, and wild cat were but a few species that inhabited the area. Twelve foot alligators were as common as ants at a picnic. Water bubbling up from the depths of crystal clear springs was as sweet as only pure water can get. The lakes and rivers - some with clear water, some the color of rich tea, yielded pan fish so big that only one could fit in the bottom of the average sized frying pan.The Gulf was a source of food so large that the possibility that it would dwindle to what it is today was unthinkable. Small wonder that families like the Hays, Worleys, and the Hudsons, for whom the settlement of Hudson was named, saw it as the ideal environment to rear their families and live out their lives. Times change, the wheels of progress turn and it's with mixed emotions when I hear people that don't know any better, recount the ways "they put food on our table and shoes on our feet."
