At this point, Cemetery Road is the boundary between Armstrong and Indiana County. (From Route 210; the left side, of this road, is Armstrong County and the right side is Indiana County.) The cemeteries are smack dab on the county line and the Sacred Heart and St. Mary's Cemeteries are totally inside South Mahoning Township, Indiana County, by about 10 yards, while the St. John's Cemetery is one half in Cowanshannock Township, Armstrong County and one half in South Mahoning Township, Indiana County. (This Indiana County half is technically referred to as the St. John's Lutheran Community Cemetery; although it is really part of the church cemetery and it is directly across the small road, from the church.)
Now, here is the important part: All three of these cemeteries are considered, by the locals, to be in the Sagamore, Armstrong County, PA area and none of them are referred to as being in any other locale. (If you ask directions, any local will first direct you to Sagamore, in order to locate these places.)
Driving directions:
From the Post Office, in Sagamore, Cowanshannock Township, PA, drive north, on Route 210, for 0.80 miles to the intersection, at Cemetery Road. (Gee, I wonder why they call it Cemetery Road?) At this intersection, turn left, onto Cemetery Road and drive for 0.1 miles, past the Church and Byzantine Cemetery, to the Sacred Heart Cemetery. The other two cemeteries are along the same road and they are back to back to back.
