The dead from the naval battle, American and British, were buried in unmarked graves on Crab Island. Two officers, Lieutenant Peter Gamble and Lieutenant John Stansbury, were subsequently exhumed and reinterred in Riverside Cemetery in Plattsburgh. The remainder, estimated at over 100 dead, remain on Crab Island.
