Add PhotosIt is called Ludlow Cemetery by the McKean County Historical Society and is on a parcel of land originally owned by the Olmsted family & purchased by Liona Vance as a final resting place for his son Charles Samuel Vance, the earliest burial here in 1880. The cemetery was only active for 29 years, being also used by a small group of friends and neighbors. The last burial was of Liona Vance's son Melvin in 1909. The Historical Society's transcript contains only the 13 names shown here, but there are a couple of depressions in the ground which may indicate unmarked graves not included in the transcript.
This is not the same as Gibbs Hill Cemetery which is well documented and is about a mile further up Gibbs Hill Road. Moriah Lutheran Cemetery nearby is also sometimes referred to as "Ludlow Cemetery" in some obituaries and death certificates.
If you need to create a memorial for a person whose death was before 1880 or after 1909, please search the listings for Gibbs Hill Cemetery and Moriah Lutheran Cemetery before creating a Find A Grave Memorial here.
