According to residents in the area, this cemetery was mostly in use in the 1850s through 1870s. Besides the Brewer family, residents of a nearby lead mining camp may also be buried here. There is a neighborhood legend that some people, including children, were buried here or nearby when an epidemic struck the camp. Some of the people here were members of a family who died in a house fire.
According to Brewer family researcher Charles Mercer:
"There is a sad tale of what happened to all of the previously known to exist stones that were there. They were removed for use as stepping stones and later cast into a ravine and covered up."
Go about six miles southeast from St. Clair on Highway 30 toward Lonedell. Turn right on Foster Road just before the junction with Highway 47. Stop as soon as you reach the first (and only) house on the left. The cemetery is in the woods on the right side of the road, right by the road.
Don't go any further down the road unless you have a four-wheel drive. There is plenty of room to turn around right by the cemetery.
This information is good as of 2011.
