Knock Shrine, in Knock, Co. Mayo, Ireland is a very popular place of pilgrimage to our Mary, our Blessed Lady.
On 21st August 1879, some villagers were visionaries to an Apparition of the Virgin Mary, St Joseph, St John the Evangilist, and Jesus Christ (represented as the Lamb Of God).
Behind the Basilica is the Burial spot for Parish Priests who have served in the Parish of Knock, the most famous being Monsignor James Horan, who was responsible for the development of Knock Regional Airport, to facilitate Pilgrims and business in the local area.
