In 1878 an acre of land adjoining this little cemetery was sold to the Trustees of the Fox Congregation of the Methodist Church of Canada for forty-five dollars by Sylvester Fox.
In 1898 the town of Eldorado was described as "A post office on the C Q R in Madoc Township, Hastings County, 32 miles north of Belleville, the county seat, and 6 miles north of Madoc, the nearest banking point. It contains Methodist and Presbyterian Churches and a public school. Stage to Madoc daily. Pop. 100" (Source: 1898-99 Eastern Ontario Gazetteer and Directory)
In 1907 Eldorado Methodist Church was built, with its unique low front door and windows above that overlook the cemetery, which continues to serve local families of all denominations.
In 1918 another parcel of land (approx. 1 acre) was sold to the Trustees of the White Church for seventy-five dollars by Simeon Fox.
In 1983 there were a total of 486 gravestones in the cemetery, yet records show there are many family members buried in unmarked graves.
