The cemetery is located in Bucks Township, Tuscarawas County, Ohio, and is # 11708 (Lint Cemetery / Fiat Cemetery / Gonters German Lutheran Cemetery) in "Ohio Cemeteries 1803-2003", compiled by the Ohio Genealogical Society.
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) feature ID for the cemetery is 1963826 (Fiat Cemetery / Gonter's German Lutheran Cemetery / Lint Cemetery / Saint Peter's United Church of Christ Cemetery).
St. Peter's United Church of Christ, known locally as the Fiat Church, was at first known as Gonter's Church and later as Lint's Church. In 1838, the first deeded ground was acquired from George and Christina (nee Seltonright) Gonter. This plot was for burial and a meeting house for worship, the date being October 30, 1838. October 13, 1846, a second parcel containing a half an acre was deeded to the trustees by the same grantors. The trustees were Joseph Miller, Andreas "Andrew" Eckert and Philip Miller.
Many years after the death of George Gonter and his wife, Christina, all of those buried on the first original plot, back of the first church, had markers removed to smooth the ground for reseeding and better care. Many of the early settlers were buried there and a record of the original gravesites is unavailable and the markers are gone. It is said that the first burials on the land were George Gonter's first wife, Magalena nee Seltonright and an infant son, Frederick, both died December 13, 1834. Also, Christina Gonter, infant daughter of George and Magdalena, died in 1831. There is a memorial marker in the existing cemetery for George, his wives, Madaglena and Christina, as well as the two infant children. (Note: The wives of George Gonter, Magdalena and Christina Seltonright, were sisters, George marrying Christina after the death of Magdalena.) The missing markers, as stated above, leave a mystery to those buried on the land, seeing that George Gonter's daughter, Christina, died in 1831 and the first burial record for the existing cemetery is for Gottlieb Unselt, church clerk, who died June 20, 1858. In 1834, the first christian worship services were held by Rev. Henry Coloredo, in the home of Adam Regula. Services were held in homes until the first church house was built in 1839 and Rev. Coloredo ministered until his death in 1846. No written record has been found of the first church, nor the ministers that served after Coloredo, namely, A. G. Joerge, Carl Doeppenschmitt and John G. Abele.
As years passed the name changed from Gonter Church, to Lint's Church, since George Lint married Rebecca Gonter, youngest daughter of George and Madgalena Gonter. The farm around the church and cemetery passed from Gonter to Lint. When a store and post office were located a short distance from the church, Fiat was selected as the name of the post office and later the church was designated as the St. Peter's United Church of Christ of Fiat, Ohio.
