Union High School met in the church until a building was later erected next to the church building (located where the educational building was later erected next to the stands). The Union High School catalogue was well printed and contained course description and requirements for graduation. Listed under Location were these words, "The moral and religious standing of the community is good. A good church is maintained and an interesting Sunday School is kept up." Listed in the enrollment of the school in 1905-1906 is Bro. Charlie Boyte.
On the 18th day of June, A. D. 1869, Lucinda Brister and George W. Brister of Lawrence County for a valuable and sufficient consideration to them in hand paid by the said Union Church, the receipt thereby acknowledged gave more or less 20 acres to the church. (Deed recorded in the Chancery Clerk's office, Brookhaven, MS, Book #82, page 186 filed July 29, 1912). Later the church bought from M. W. Boyte for the consideration of Ten dollars one acre of land for cemetery use.
Union Church joined the Pearl River Association in 1869, and her delegates were J. L. Chandler and J. A. Boutwell. In 1872, the church was dismissed from the association to help form the Fair River Baptist Association. Her delegates were D. M. Martin and William C. Coon. The Fair River Association changed its name to Lincoln County Association in 1903 with the Union Baptist Church, Lincoln County, continuing to affiliate.
The cemetery has been a very important part of the lives of the church families. The land for the cemetery was acquired in 1915 from Mr. M. W. Boyte.
The up-keep of the cemetery derives from collections and donations.
The Gazebo was built in 1988.
The latest addition was in 1993, when 1.59 acres was added on the east and north sides. This parcel of land was acquired from Don and Frances Ann (Boyte) Parkenson. She is the grand-daughter of M. W. and Susie (Williamson) Boyte.
