Rockland Cemetery was first established in 1899. The first burial was Mrs. Barbara (LaKing) Glew who passed away in 1899. At that time, the land was owned by the CPR Company. In October 1926, Canadian Pacific Railway Company sold land to the incorporated Rockland Cemetery Company. The early Board Members were: Mr. Herbert Priestman, Mr. Eldon Crotty, Mr. Alexander Skene and Mr. Glendon Barr. Today, the cemetery is owned by Village of McAdam Rockland Cemetery Company Inc. Up to 2012, the cemetery organization was a separate entity from the Village of McAdam. On January 30, 2012 members of the Rockland Cemetery Company unanimously voted to transfer all assets and property to the newly former cooperative, the Village of McAdam Rockland Cemetery Company Inc. Administration is comprised of nine (9) Directors: five (5) Members of the Village Council and four (4) Directors who are elected at large at the annual meeting held on April. The cemetery consist of ten (10) parcels of land, totalling 14 acres in size. However there are eighteen burial (18) sections. The cemetery is all-inclusive denominational though there have been traditional sections based on religion. The cemetery is the only cemetery in the McAdam area. The main gate is located on Route 4/Vanceboro Road. There are several headstones with imaginary and symbolism that highlights the communities close connection to the railroad.
