The congregation of Flemings Chapel formed in 1867. In 1872, Robert and Martha Fleming gave the church 1 1/2 acres of land and a log church was built. The cemetery came into use in the late 1870's to mid-80's.
Many of the charter members of church are buried in the cemetery including James and Calvin Anderson, Armantia Barber Fleming Courtney, and Sarah McCall. There are a number of unmarked graves and some stone-marked graves, but most graves are marked with carved tombstones.
