Cemetery entrances are accessed from 4th Street, Windber [Somerset County] and from Cemetery Dr., Richland Twp.[Cambria County]. The entrances are well marked. It is across the street from Saint Marys Byzantine Catholic Church Cemetery and diagonal to Saints Cyril and Methodius II Catholic Cemetery. Saint John Cantius Roman Catholic Church merged with the Saint Marys Roman Catholic Hungarian Church, and was renamed Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, but the active cemetery retains the St. John Cantius name [as did St Mary's Hungarian Cemetery, down the road a ways, retain its name].
In the late 1930s FDR's Work Project Administration (WPA) program surveyed cemeteries throughout PA for burials from about 1900 to the then current date. "Saint John's Slovak Catholic Church Cemetery" in Windber was one of those cemeteries. Much of that data has been translated, transcribed, and captured in a spreadsheet and uploaded here. Hardcopies are available in the Windber Public Library. Transcripts are available as text from the Pennsylvania USGenWeb Archives at:

A note on Slovak names; translation and Americanization is tricky and was imperfect and inconsistent; many tombstones are not in English.
