The Denson Cemetery has been designsted as an Adams County Pioneer Cemetery. It is located in the SW 1/4 quadrant of Section 7, Range 8 - 9 West, in the Ursa Township area of Adams County, Illinois. This cemetery has the first grave recorded for the Ursa, Illinois Township area, which occurred in the winter of 1826-27. The cemetery is at the north edge of the villiage of Ursa on the left side of the Highway, 1 Block off Route 96 north in the middle of a field. It is fenced and maintained but it is not as well maintained as when I visted in the summer of 2002, at that time someone or some organization had mended and reset all of the fallen and broken grave markes and there were many flowers planted and blooming by the markers. Since this posting (June 2007) there have been a couple of Tornados come through this area and many of the grave markers have fallen or have been broken. The grass around the base of all the markers has been removed for several inches which makes it easier for who ever cuts the grass but it also allows rain water to erode the soil from around the bases of the markers and they eventualy fall.
