Woodruff Cemetery #2
Globe, Caldwell County, North Carolina, USA
This Burial is difficult to find. It is located off of Anthony Creek Road in Pisgah National Forest beyond Globe Baptist Church.
From Collettsville, NC, take NC state Highway 90 to Anthony Creek Road, a distance of about 10 miles. Turn RIGHT on to Anthony Creek Road. Pavement stops at about 2.4 miles with Rackett Creek Road on right. Continue Straight on gravel for 1/2 mile looking for a trail marked Woodruff Branch Trail on LEFT. IF you see a beautiful waterfall on left above a bridge, back up and pull over at a small obvious parking area. Woodruff Trail will be directly across from that small parking area.
Go 1/2 mile up the trail (very steep for the most part). Wade across creek at one point. Continue walking. Old house place will be on left with a pile of rocks representing what used to be the chimney. A spring is right in front of you on the trail. CROSS that spring and count exactly 80 paces. Look to RIGHT for a bank leading up a few feet to a miniature ridge. Old boundary marker ribbons may be present. Memory serves that you should see the 2 upright stones, close together, only 40-60 feet up from the trail. Stones obviously mark a child's burial. Name is most likely lost to time.
