This cemetery was indexed for an Eagle Project by Patrick Walton in 2007. As part of that project, the headstones were all imaged and their location mapped. I will upload the images and images of the maps shortly.
Explanation of details on each entry:
Stone # (Plot): (1)-4 The first number indicates the row in the cemetery. The rows are numbered from West to East. Due to the age of the cemetery many of the rows are not very clear. An aerial photo of the cemetery, with some of the more visible rows labeled, is included in the among the cemetery overview photos..
1-(4) The second number indicates the location of the stone itself and is numbered along the row from South to North.
1-4(N/E/S/W) Indicates whether the information/picture is on the North, East, South, or West side of a pillar.
1-4(l/r) Indicates the left side or right side of a stone with multiple people that was captured in two separate images.
1-4(a/b) Indicates two separate stones right next to each other that are directly related.
Some stones apparently skip numbers (example: 1-2, 1-3, 1-6). Since this index was intended to be an index of visible stones, all fragmented stones and left-over bases were included when stones were assigned numbers, but these stones were left out in order to keep it from becoming too lengthy.
Sexton#: The sexton numbers are a reference to a copy of the sexton records kept from 1848 to 1923, compiled by Mary Logan of Nauvoo. They can be found on the USGENWEB page for Hancock County, IL. Although there are some discrepancies between the stones and the sexton records, the sexton records provide useful information that is not on the stones. These references do not suppose to be entirely correct in their matches to the sexton records, but only the best found match to aid in research. The various entries for this column include:
#-refers to the number in the far right column of the sexton records
none found - no match has been found, but the date of death is in the time period of the sexton records so the possibility of a match still exists
early - date of death precedes sexton records
recent - date of death is after the end of the sexton records
NA - sexton number does not apply, ex: family plot stone, footstone, or monument
Thanks to all who helped with the Eagle project: Egan Boldt, Evan L. Ivie, Mayor John McCarty, John Wallace, Michael Wheatley, Emily Benedict, Troy Cox, Matt Harrison, Aaron Ivie, Betty Jo Ivie, Bradley Ivie, Brandon Ivie, Evan L.
