Organised in 1842 on what later became part of Camp Rucker, were relocated to the Longstreet site in 1942. These graves, laid out in the same order in which they were removed from the old graveyards, were placed in separte cemeteries at Longstreet. Mt. Liberty is south of the church; Hawridge is west of the church: and Zion, and Ebenezer are north of the church. A survey of standing tombstones was done Sept 7, 2002 by Environmental Science students, Carroll High School. 337 graves from the original Mount Liberty Cemetery were reburied at Ebenezer,( south side of the church). Others were laid to rest in the Level Plains Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mount Liberty Cemetery is one of 6 cemeteries all located in an area also referred to as Longstreet Historical Cemetery.
From Ozark, take US 231 North to CR 36. Turn left on CR 36. Longstreet Historical Cemetery is on the left right after CR 233 intersects CR 36 on the left. CR 233 runs along the south side of Longstreet Historical Cemetery and also intersects the cemetery.
Longstreet Historical Cemetery contains six separate cemeteries that were moved to this location in August 1942 during the construction of Fort Rucker. CR 233 intersects Longstreet Historical Cemetery, separating Ebenezer and Zion cemeteries from Haw Ridge, Private Cemeteries One & Two, and Mount Liberty Cemetery.
Since there is no discernible boundary between Ebenezer and Zion Cemeteries, they have been combined on Find-A-Grave and named Ebenezer Cemetery.
