Saint John's Cemetery
Albany, Albany County, New York, USA
When created in 1841, it had been part of Groesbeckville, a hamlet in the Town of Bethlehem, Albany County. Groesbeckville was annexed by the City of Albany in 1870, so when the cemetery ceased to be, it was then part of the city.
Many of the people interred there were reinterred to Calvary Cemetery in Glenmont, a hamlet in the Town of Bethlehem, many going to St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands, Albany County, some going to other area Catholic cemeteries, and at least a few going across the state or even out of state. According to an 1880 newspaper article, upwards of 21,000 people had been interred there, though the cemetery was only about three city blocks long and one city block deep. The following list of people who'd once been interred there is thus far from complete:
* Bannan, John, b. abt May 1818, d. January 24th, 1846
* Brennan, Martin d. 1853: Martin Brennan at Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont, Albany, NY.

St. John's Cemetery on Delaware ave This is inaccessible to the public. The site lays amidst a congregation of residential parcels. The closest property address to the site of the tombstones that still remain seems to be 18 View Ave, Albany NY 12209 or 216 Delaware Ave Albany NY 12209. Inquiry with the property owner appears necessary to access the site. Overall it appears that the St John's cemetery is completely paved over and there is nothing significant for individuals who wish to visit to see. Perhaps a historical society would think it prudent prudent to put a memorial plaque…
