This cemetery is a work in progress. I have information which says that Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church was moved to it's present location about 1866. This church was once located at the crossroads north of the Bartley (or, Bartlett) Sconyers place. George & Lavinia Mae Neal Rountree, as well as George's twin brother, Joshua, and wife Zilphia Durden Rountree have to be buried there. Three of the four died in the 1850's, and have no grave markers in front of Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church. Nor are they listed in any cemetery books covering Emanuel County. A serious search needs to be conducted to locate the church's original location. There has to be graves there. The Rountree grave markers that would've been placed there would probably have been quite large, as the Rountree family was very prominent. There's got to be farmers, or hunters who have seen these grave markers before, and didn't realize that Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church once stood there. If anyone has any information about these graves, or have heard rumors or old family stories about them, please contact me. I believe it could be located anywhere between the church's present location on Hwy 80, past the Old Reidsville Road all the way up to where Sconyers Grist Mill once stood on Hwy 80 at Sconyers Mill Road.
