Old Fort Henry Cemetery, located in T54 R15 S20, is the predecessor of New Ft Henry Cemetery which is a short distance west of this one. This cemetery was mostly destroyed by cattle over the years. It was fenced in the spring of 2010, and probing and digging up of stones, some more than a foot deep, took place in the summer. Fundraising for the actual restoration is underway, and more donations are needed. The Huntsville Historical Society in Randolph County is handling the funds.

Photos were taken of each stone as it was uncovered, and the interments listed on this page were taken from the photos. If any of these are duplicate memorials and you want to transfer them to this cemetery, let me know and I will delete the one I created. There is a lot of confusion between the Old and New Ft Henry cemeteries, and I hope this helps straighten it out some.

December 2020:
Most of the stones had been reset, and mainly just dirt work and clean-up remained to be done, but the restoration of this cemetery has been abandoned. The stones have been pushed together in five different groups, and plans are to remove the fence, all to make it easier to "maintain". This was done without consulting those who had worked on digging up and recording the stones. The overseer maintains there was no interest or support for the cemetery. Photographs will be added to memorials that were possible to take.
