O'Rear Family Cemetery
Also known as Allen O'Rear Family Cemetery
Columbia, Boone County, Missouri, USA
My great-grandmother told me a story once about this cemetery that is quite interesting. During the Civil War, Union soldiers were marching captive Confederate soldiers down Oakland Gravel Road and one of the soldiers fell by the road dead. Susan O'Rear (Allen's wife) sent some of her slaves down to the road to fetch the body. She buried him in her husband's wedding suit. There is no stone for this soldier.
