In 1900, Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church was organized in Beausejour by the Reverend F. Beer from Trinity Lutheran in Winnipeg. This mother congregation of the synod was instrumental in many services rendered to scattered Lutherans through its pastors, and grateful thanks are expressed. The first services of Zion were conducted in private homes. In 1903 the parish procured as its first pastor the Reverend J. Burgdorf, who in 1904 led the congregation in its first building program. A bell tower and stained glass windows were added in 1911. The church served the people for many years.

Established in 1950, There is a gate at the centre of the cemetery with "1950" on one of the pillars. A small cluster of stones at the north end of the cemetery is divided from the rest by what appears to be another roadway.

As noted above part of the town's story and those of its inhabitants from the early days of European settlement through roughly 1983 is told in the volume "They Stopped at a Good Place; History of the Beausejour, Brokenhead, Garson, and Tyndall area of Manitoba: 1875 - 1981", especially on the cited page 337. Further details are available in the related work entitled "And They Built an Altar - The History and Heritage of the Brokenhead Lutheran Community", especially on page 58.
A free digital version of this and many other Manitoba local history books can be found online in the University of Manitoba Digital Collections. There is also a list of such books organized by district and town name on the Manitoba Historical Society's website on their page entitled "Finding Aid: Manitoba Local History Books".
A list of burials in this cemetery is available from the Manitoba Genealogical Society (reference #0774), transcribed by a member or members in 1994. Also available to MGS members is a searchable online database named the "MGS Manitoba Name Index" (or MANI). Some additional information is contained in the 1996 MGS publication "Carved in Stone: Manitoba Cemeteries and Burial Sites" (revised edition, Special Projects Publication, 106 pages).
