The church was built in 1851 by Ephraim Root, Noah Westenbarger, Jim Wisher, and William Wolfe. The land was donated by Isaac Rinehart and was built out of an old grist mill from Junction City.
The church was first organized about 1859 with a preacher Rev. Cease, asisted by Rev. Brock in charge of twenty members. There has been as many of eighty members.
In 1891, the church was moved to its new location on land donated by Joseph Sherburn and his wife for 41.00 to John Eliker Sr., John Friesner, William Groff, S.S. Lutz and Brandt, trustees of the church. Rev. George Geiger was pastor at this time and the church was re-dedicated on June 7, 1891.
Maggie Myers was the first person buried in the adjoining cemetery on February 9, 1891. The church was torn down in 1984.
