According to the nearby Virginia Historial Highway marker: "Built in 1703 in English bond. David Mossom, rector there for forty years, was the minister who married George Washington. According to one tradition, the wedding took place at St. Peter's Church."

Entrance to St. Peter's Church grounds. The main cemetery is to the right. There are some other grave stones and markers to the immediate left; mostly family plots.

There are very few marked graves (maybe 10-15) at the rear of the church building. These few are of 1700-1800's vintage. One of the markers stated that the body of Rev. David Mossom "... is buried beneath the church chancel". The vast majority of marked graves are to the right of the church yard leading up to the building, which are not that old. Those are the ones for which there are pictures on this site.

The picture is looking from the building. Coming onto the property, the graves are on the right. Most are relatively newer graves, not of the "ancient" historical interest many seem to have. There are many more tombstones that are viewable as the land goes downward away from the church. I would say that most of these graves are the ones for which there are already pictures as of the date I was there, i.e. March 22, 2014.
