Elizabeth Hagler Hankley-Crawford was born in Illinois in 1829 to Paul Hagler and Elizabeth Clutts. She married Thomas Hankley on Jan. 14 1849. Their children include Alice (b. 1850), John (b. 1852) and Catherine (b. 1854). The 1850 census for Union County Illinois (District 2, pg. 52) shows Elizabeth, Thomas, and Alice living with Leah Hagler (age 19), who is Elizabeth's younger sister. Listed on the same page is a household with John Lockard, his wife Sarah, their children Sarah, Alfred, Mary, William, and also Elizabeth Hagler (age 47) and Levi Hagler (age 16). Sarah and Levi and are Elizabeth's siblings also, and the elder Elizabeth is her mother (maiden name Cluttts). When Elizabeth died in 1888, she was by then the widow of her second husband, William C. Crawford. She is buried in Lockard Cemetery in Union County.
