The Marvell Messeger newspaper reported that Mamie was 74 years old, but other records state that she was 79 years old, 12 days shy of her 80th birthday. She died at the home of her nephew, Lloyd King at 11:00 a.m.She was a lifetime resident of the Trenton Community. Her sons were, Fred and Rube King and daughter, Lena Scaife, a brother Stern Kendall, two sisters, Georgia Delk and Lizzie Dreyer. Funeral was at Trenton Baptist Church, with Bro.Gilbert officiating. Active pallbearers: Earl King, Lloyd King, Vonner King, Hughes King, Preston King, Mike King and Kendall Delk, all nephews. Honorary pallbears: Dr. C. G.Gibbons, Winston Foster, William Guthrie, Bob Heidelberger and Bob Chismall. Brickell Funeral Home was in charge.Tombstones were placed at the grave sites at Yancey Cemetery in the spring of 1998 by the grandchildren, Fred King, Jr. William Henry King and Frances Fern King Williams,children of Fred Archie King, Sr. and Edna Bailes King, Rose Mary Scaife Avants, Sue Scaife Ellenburg, John Scaife, children of John Sr. and Lena zking Scaife, Madge King McCloud, Ginny King and Durwood King, children of Reuben ( Rube) and Cile Turner King. Fred Kng Jr. worked with several family member and got the Phillip County Prisoners to clean the cemetery and the only cost to the families was paying for their meals.
In the Trenton Baptist Church history book it list Mrs. Mamie King in the early membership of the church in 1920.
