Hephzibah was a daughter of Peter and Sarah Cloyce/Clayes. Her year of birth is often shown as 1685, but a vital record was not found to substantiate this. Given that her mother was accused of witchcraft in 1692 at Salem, that is a possible place of birth.

Not only Hephzibah's mother, Sarah, but also her two aunts Rebecca Nurse and Mary Esty were tried for witchcraft. Of the three, only Sarah escaped execution. Although the record is sparse, it seems clear that Sarah's family fled Salem and settled in the area now called Framingham.

According to Framingham town records, Hephzibah married Ebenezer Harrington at Framingham on February 3, 1707/8. The oldest record located shows that the groom was "of Watertown" and the bride was "of this town," that is, a resident of Framingham.

The couple's children include Ebenezer, Elias, Hephzibah, Joshua, Phinehas, Rebekah, Sarah, Susannah, Thomas, and possibly others.

A death record was not found for Hephzibah Harrington. She died between 1754 and 1773, likely at Framingham, as explained below. Ebenezer made a will on 13 March 1754, naming "my well beloved wife Hephzibath" as well as a daughter Hephzibah, a grandson Ebenezer Bruce, a son and executor Joshua, and others. The will was presented to probate on 8 April 1754, showing that Ebenezer's widow was still living. Given that Ebenezer's will gave Hephzibah use of the house, two young cows, etc., it seems likely that she remained in Framingham until her own death.

Hephzibah died sometime before 17 March 1773, when a probate document for her late husband's estate, signed by son and executor Joshua, mentions "my hon'd. mothers funeral expenses."

The name is also spelled Hepzibah Cloyce, etc. Her husband's surname is also spelled variously: Hunton, Herenton, etc.
