Roy married the love of his life, Carma Stander, and would have celebrated 70 years of marriage this 28th of September. There were sealed for all time and eternity in the Logan Utah LDS Temple.
During the Korean conflict in 1951, he joined the Air Force and attended electronics school. He served at a radar station in Yokohama, Japan during a large portion of his tour. After an honorable discharge, he attended Utah State University, graduating with honors in 1958 (Phi Kappa Honor Society) with a BS in Electrical Engineering.
Roy worked in the stage lighting industry for several companies and spent many years in his own lighting business. He had several registered patents for lighting components.
As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints he served in many positions including Elders Quorum President and High Priest Group Leader, Membership Clerk, and Stake High Council member. He served a stake mission in the Bountiful East Stake and spent many years doing Family History Indexing.
He was a loving father to his three children. In his later years, being a grandfather and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him great joy. Roy also enjoyed watching all sports and was an avid golfer. He and Carma traveled the world with friends, always telling stories of the times they all shared. Everyone who knew Roy easily saw his outstanding work ethic, his need to get the job done and get it done correctly. He had simple needs and even simpler wants. He always wanted to make sure those around him were well cared for long before he thought of himself.
Roy is survived by his wife, children Brock, Quinn (Amanda), and Susan Beckstrom, and one sister Velda (Tom) Plant, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers: Richard, Judson, John, Frank, David, Adam, Jesse, and Wallace and seven sisters: Matilda, Wyora, Elvera, Delpha, Alzina, Verda, and Wanda.
