Jerry Chandler was killed January 10, 1945, when he went ashore at Lingayen Gulf on the invasion of Luzon, Philippine Islands. Sergeant Chandler left Hanford with company B, 185th Infantry in March, 1941. He trained in San Luis Obispo and at Fort Lewis, Washington. In August, 1942, he went to Hawaii and later went into the Pacific campaigns. His parents are Mr. John L. and Delpha L. Chandler of Fresno, former Hanford residents.

Fresno Sergeant Sacrifices Life To Rewin Luzon
Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Chandler, 542 Farris Avenue, have been notified by the war department their son, Staff Sergeant Ezelial J. (Jerry) Chandler, 20, was killed in action on Luzon on January 20th. (10th)
Chandler, a native of Norwood, Missouri, came to California in 1934. He lived in Hanford and attended Hanford schools, graduating from Hanford High School after having been a member of the school band.
He went into active service with the California National Guard in 1939, and was sent overseas in August, 1942.
Besides his parents, he is survived by five brothers, Private Paul Chandler of Fort Lewis, Washington; James, Jackie and David Chandler of Fresno and Don Chandler of Hanford, and four sisters, Mrs. Joy Ann Loverett and Miss Evelyn Chandler of Fresno, Mrs. Hazel Wilson of Salinas and Mrs. Ruth Allen of San Francisco.
