Kills One Brother, Wounds Second
The same battle action in Italy cost Mrs. Annie R. Cabezut, Fruit and North Avenues, the life of one son and seriously wounded another. The boys were fighting side by side at the time.
The war department had notified Mrs. Cbezut, one son, Private George E. Cabezut, 20, was killed in action April 21st, and another, Private Clarence Cabezut, 21, was wounded in action on the same date.
The boys enlisted together in May, 1944, went overseas last November, and fought side by side in the battles of the 5th Army across Italy.
Both boys, born in Mariposa County, attended the Merced High School, and prior to their enlistment were employed on dairies in Dinuba and Mariposa County.
Clarence Cabezut, who is in a hospital in Italy, has been awarded the Purple Heart and the Combat Badge.
Besides his mother and brother, George Cabezut is survived by his father, Leopold H. Cabezut of Mariposa County, three other brothers, Corporal Frank Cabezut, USA, Arthur and Claude Cabezut, and a sister, Bernice, all of Fresno.
